The Seaside Heights Boardwalk is Open for Business! Whether you are coming for a week or the weekend or even just a day, don’t forget to visit the best boardwalk on the Jersey Shore this summer.
The views are just as beautiful as they have every been, and if you haven’t walked on the new boards, you are in for a treat! Gone are all the soft spots and ‘oh man’ moments – you know you’ve had them… walking across a section of old boards, feeling the bounce and slight depression.
Many of the business’ were up and running last summer and we are anticipating even more this year. As always, the boardwalk will be packed with trendy boutiques featuring everything from beachwear and sunglasses to jewelry. The owners of Casino Pier have been hard at work on the upper deck, and we have been receiving variance notices regarding the Funtown Pier request to make their pier longer. Yes, the Seaside Heights Boardwalk is back and going to be better than ever!
Our favorite spot is right in front of Casino Pier. The games there are quite affordable for the little ones and keep them busy longer than just a minute or two, particularly the wiffle ball toss (I think we won a prize every time we played last year) and the ring toss (onto the bottles). For $5 you get a whole bucket of wiffle balls (shown below), the objective is to get the ball in one of the holes that has a colored border.
For us an early morning family walk on the boards are a tradition we look forward to all year. At a nice leisurely pace we walk south, past mid-way to the Dunkin Donuts and then walk all the way to the north end enjoying our coffee, munchkins and kids as they chase the seagulls – not stressed about loosing sight of them. Yes, there is nothing more peaceful than walking in the quiet morning hours, watching the sun rise and having the Boardwalk all to yourself.
Want to play video games? Here’s a tip for you…in the Casino Pier arcade, there is a ‘space’ game sort of in the middle, closer to the boardwalk side. For only 25 cents (yes 25) it is super easy to get at least 50 or 60 points every time. Somehow (I am never lucky) last time we were there I managed to hit the super jackpot twice and won 4000 points. Compared to the other arcades on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk, the Casino Pier one just feels more open and airy so we tend to spend a lot of time there.
Yes, sadly some of the icons are gone – Beach Bar, Berkeley Sweet Shop and the Carousel Arcade. And many other shops will have to rebuild, but they will, and the south end of the Seaside Park Boardwalk will be nicer and better than ever.
So, come spend some time on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk! Support the local businesses, take in some sun and more importantly, make memories that you and your family will remember forever.
